Shipping Your Holland Lop Bunny

Due to United Airlines' recent policy change,
we are no longer able to ship bunnies.

If you don't live in Ohio but still want a Holland lop bunny, don't despair.  We can ship your bunny to you!  That's right, we have Holland lop bunnies for sale with shipping to the United States.  Using United Airlines' PetSafe program, your bunny can fly in a climate-controlled cargo area in approximately 8-12 hours, depending on the distance from Ohio and layovers.  *Please note that while we DO offer shipping, we much prefer that you pick up your bunny in person to spare the stress, hassle, and expense of shipping.

Shipping costs average around $350-$400 (depending on weight) plus the cost of the bunny.  Shipping costs include airfare, carrier with modifications, food/water containers, food, bedding, airport transportation, and time involved.  All fees must be paid in full to us at the time shipping is booked.
The airline does not offer insurance, so upon tendering the bunny to the airline, full liability shifts to you as the customer.  All of our flights have been successful so far, but we want you to understand the slight risk involved.  If something should happen to the bunny in transit, we would replace or refund the bunny cost.  Shipping would be reimbursed at the airline's discretion.

How does shipping a bunny work?  Though this may seem like a daunting process at first, it is usually remarkably pleasant and simple.  The key is you must have a flexible schedule when your bunny is shipped, as flight delays and cancellations are likely.  Here are the steps we take when shipping our Holland lop rabbits.

1. Carrier Orientation

Your bunny is allowed to investigate and play in the shipping carrier to ease stress during transportation.  The carrier will already have his/her scent by the time travel day arrives.

2. Carrier Modification

We (meaning my husband) will modify the carrier to meet airline requirements.  This includes installing metal bolts and nuts, drilling extra holes in the corners and around the door, adding zip ties for security, securely fastening food/water, and attaching extra food for unexpected delays.  A soft bed of hay and shredded cardboard is placed inside the carrier.

3. To the Airport!

We will transport your bunny to the United Cargo facility at the Cleveland, Ohio airport (CLE).  This is where United Airlines' PetSafe shipments are dropped off.  Your bunny needs to arrive two hours prior to departure and will likely have a layover at a United hub before reaching your airport.

4. Bunny Shipping

After an absurd amount of paperwork, we pay the airway bill and give your bunny a final check before saying goodbye.  United Airlines staff will transport your bunny to the climate-controlled cargo hold of the aircraft just prior to takeoff.

5. Flight Tracking

As soon as your bunny is checked in, you can begin online tracking using the airway bill number and flight numbers we provide.  We will also be tracking your bunny and will do our best to notify you via text or email of any delays.  Rest assured, your bunny has plenty of food and water to endure layovers and delays, and late planes are not unusual, so we are well prepared.

6. Bunny Arrives!

This is the fun part - picking up bunny!  Your bunny will arrive either at the United Cargo facility adjacent to your airport or at the United baggage claim/check-in counter if no separate cargo facility exists.  Please bring a photo ID for pick-up, sign for your fluffy new friend, and take bunny home!

We hope you enjoy your new Holland lop bunny as much as we have loved him/her throughout the first few weeks of bunny life.  Our bunnies are showered with love, human interaction, and the best care we think is possible, and hopefully it shows in how sweet, friendly, and personable your bunny is.  We are happy to answer any questions, simply contact us.

Currently, we only offer bunny shipping within the continental United States due to lengthy transit times to international destinations as well as Alaska and Hawaii.  Present shipping locations include California, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Washington to the east coast states of Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and all 50 continental United States.  Customers in Canada would need to use motor transport.
