Hook's Hollands Sales Policy

We're not trying to rain on your bunny parade, but we want to make sure everything is
clearly explained about purchasing one of our bunnies.
By placing a deposit on one of our bunnies, you agree to the following:

As of August, 2021, we have no future bunny litters planned and will be keeping our remaining bunnies as pets.

• Applying for a Bunny:  An application will appear on the available bunnies page.
  • The application for bunny reservation appears on the website when bunnies are posted on the sale page.  Applications are considered in the order received.
  • A bunny is officially reserved for you with a non-refundable $50 Paypal DEPOSIT.  A temporary hold is possible if you are able to visit the bunny within 4 days to make a deposit in person. 
  • Visit our UPDATES page often for the most up-to-date information on current litters.
    
  • Many customers choose to adopt their second baby once the first has been spayed/neutered.
  • Spaying/neutering is highly recommended for pet bunnies and is usually performed around 5/6 months of age.

• Non-Refundable Deposit:  To officially hold/reserve a bunny once available, you must pay a $50 non-refundable deposit in person as cash or via Paypal (plus a $2 Paypal fee...so you would pay $52).  This $50 will be applied toward the total amount owed for the bunny.  The balance is due IN CASH when the bunny is picked up.  Bunnies cannot leave our facility until they are at least 8 weeks of age (some will not be sold until 10+ weeks). 
  
  The deposit will ONLY be refunded if we cancel the sale for any reason OR if the bunny is found to be of a different gender BEFORE it leaves our facility.  If you simply change your mind about that particular bunny or fail to contact us to set up a pick-up date, your deposit will not be refunded and will be considered a donation to be applied towards bunny feed/housing.  Please be certain that your entire family is ready for a bunny before you make a deposit.
  
  
• Price: Bunnies generally are priced between $300-400 depending on quality and color.  Our bunnies come with litter training experience and have been provided with superb care and daily interaction.  Holland Lops that we feel are show or brood quality will come with a pedigree.  Babies will not be sold with pedigrees.  If purchasing as a pet, we will provide a cute birth certificate.  Balance is to be paid in full with cash at pick-up (please bring the exact amount).  CHECKS OR CREDIT CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED, CASH ONLY PLEASE.
  **Please understand that we are perpetually investing A LOT of time and money into compassionately caring for our small herd; therefore, we simply are not able to sell our bunnies for any less if we are to continue to maintain high standards.  
  
  
• Pick-UP: You must pick up your bunny at our location near Wellington, Ohio.  Bring a pet carrier or small box with timothy hay in order to transport your bunny home - your bunny will not want to ride home on your lap, and munching on timothy hay will help your bunny to relieve stress.  For the safety of our bunnies (and you), we operate a closed rabbitry.  This is largely to protect our bunnies from the RHD2 rabbit virus now found in the United States.  Bunnies will be picked up outside of the bunny barn. 

• Boarding: If you are unable to pick up your bunny more than a week beyond its available date, we will usually be willing to provide a boarding service as long as we have space.  Boarding is $20/week and includes the same amenities your bunny has previously been afforded in our care.  Boarding fee and bunny balance must be paid in advance via Paypal.  At this point, the bunny is officially yours, and we will be providing a boarding care service; no refunds.  Once the bunny leaves our facility, we do not offer boarding for vacations, etc.  This is a precaution to protect the health of our herd and your bunny as well.    

• Shipping: Due to recent policy changes with United Airlines, we are no longer able to ship bunnies.  All bunnies need to be picked up at our location in northern Ohio.   
  

• Guarantee: We guarantee that, to the best of our knowledge at the time you pick up your bunny, it will be in good health and temperament.  Upon pickup, your bunny will be examined so that you can see a clear eyes/nose (no signs of illness), top teeth are over the bottom teeth (no signs of malocclusion), and how the gender was determined.  You are responsible for following our recommendations for feeding and care as well as seeking veterinary assistance if necessary.  We will not sell a pet bunny that has shown signs of aggression, but keep in mind that bunnies can become hormonal around 5/6 months of age.  Spaying/neutering can help with this and aid in calming his/her behavior. 
  After the bunny leaves our facility, you are responsible for its health and well-being.  Baby bunnies in particular are sensitive to stress and dietary changes.  Minimizing stress (other pets, rough play, startling noises, etc), washing hands/cages/food dishes frequently, and keeping your bunny on the Sherwood pellets and high quality hay are all important, especially the first months home.  No refunds will be offered.  PLEASE FULLY EXAMINE YOUR BUNNY BEFORE YOU COMPLETE YOUR PURCHASE!!  We do our best to accurately assess gender, color, and quality, but you are responsible for approving the rabbit before completing the purchase.  It can be very difficult to tell a baby bunny's gender due to small size and the differences in how some babies develop.  While we're generally quite accurate, mistakes identifying gender can occur when purchasing a baby bunny. 
  
  
• Pedigrees: Most of our bunnies are sold as babies to pet homes.  Babies will not be sold with pedigrees since their body types cannot fully be assessed at such a young age.  Older juniors and seniors may be available with pedigrees.  Although our breeding stock comes from top-quality lines from across the United States, we have no way to guarantee that your bunny will place well at shows or produce litters successfully.  You may want to ask us if we have any senior Holland Lops available if you are looking for a show rabbit or for a 4H project. 
  
  
• Care: PLEASE do THOROUGH research about Holland Lops (they can live up to 10 years!) and also how to care for a bunny (we have basic care sheets available).  It is important to keep your bunny on the feed sample that we provide and gradually transition it to your feed if it is a different brand.  Keep your bunny in a stress-free, calm environment until it is eating regularly and seems well-adjusted.  THEN, you can begin playing with your new fuzzy pal!  ALWAYS remember to be careful what types of treats you feed your bunny, as they have sensitive digestive systems.  Keeping a clean environment (washing hands and bunny cages/dishes) and minimizing stress are imperative.   
  
• We reserve the right to change our sales policy at any time and to refuse sale of a bunny for any reason.  It is your responsibility to read our sales policy before purchase and to communicate effectively. Thank you!

• Online Orders at The Lop Shop:
  Fleece cage liners, snuggle mats, and other products purchased in our online store may be returned within 30 days of purchase as long as they are in new, salable condition.  Most orders ship within 1-2 business days of order placement.  Please discontinue use if you feel your pet is excessively chewing the fabric material of the product. 
  Shipping is within the United States only.  We no longer ship to Canada due to the lengthy delivery times.
